Ian Silver is a composer with a passion for animation.

Born in 1993, the oldest of four brothers, Ian showed an early interest in music, starting with a deep appreciation, obsession, with Howard Shore's score for The Fellowship of the Ring. In middle school Ian heard and instantly fell in love with the intricate and lush sounds created by bands such as Explosions in the Sky, Radiohead, and Imogen Heap. As a result he decided to learn the electric guitar. Ian was a member of many bands throughout high school and enjoyed the energy of live performances. However it was not until after watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, an animated TV series, that Ian knew what it was he wanted to do: compose music for animated works. Ian loved the imagination, sincerity, joy and general feeling of hope the series portrayed. While searching for other animated series of a similar caliber, Ian found the Japanese animated series MushiShi. He was instantly captivated by its beautiful scenery and the serene, otherworldly quality of the music; he was hooked on Japanese Anime. After graduating from High school Ian enrolled in Berklee College of Music with a major in film scoring and a minor in interactive video game scoring.

Some of Ian's favorite shows, movies and games that he has been profoundly impacted by are the following: Steven Universe, MushiShi, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Samurai Champloo, The Tatami Galaxy, Over the Garden Wall, Kingdom Hearts, Harvest Moon, Adventure Time, Braid, The Boy and the Beast, Wolf Children, H x H, Fullmetal Alchemist, The Secret World of Arrietty, There Will Be Blood, Captain Fantastic, The Regular Show, Secondhand Lions and Naruto.
