Hi, my name is Ian Navarro Silver.

Why do I do what I do?

I became a composer and sound designer because I wanted to be involved in stories. There have been hundreds of stories that have forever altered some aspect of my worldview and belief system. I want to help tell those stories, I want to be involved in telling the stories that allow people to feel a little bit braver, a little more compassionate, kinder and more sure-footed.

What are some of your favorite stories?

It would be dishonest of me to tell you my favorite stories, because it would be a little like trying to make oatmeal cry. BUT here are some of my favorite stories (in no particular order); although I'm sure I’ve forgotten stories that were at one point very special to me.

MushiShi, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Samurai Champloo, Hellier, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, The Tatami Galaxy, Over the Garden Wall, Kingdom Hearts, Harvest Moon, Adventure Time, Braid, The Boy and the Beast, Wolf Children, Steven Universe, H x H, Fullmetal Alchemist, The Secret World of Arrietty, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, There Will Be Blood, Captain Fantastic, Broker, The Regular Show, Secondhand Lions, DoroheDoro, Made in Abyss, BotW & TotK, Redwall, Asobi Asobase and Naruto. Mort, The Goblin Emperor, The Wyrd Sisters, East of Eden, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, The Way of Kings, The Lord of the Rings, Coraline, The Ranking of Kings The Assassins Apprentice, and The Unbinding.

What and who have you worked on and with in the past?

I’ve had the extreme pleasure of working with some truly talented people. I’ve worked as an assistant, tech and copyist for Ruka Kawada in Tokyo, James L. Venable, Edward Shearmur and Bear McCreary in LA and Austin Hammonds at Bleeding Fingers. I’ve been a contract soundscape composer & sound designer with Novel Effect in Seattle since 2018 and I am currently working as Composer and Sound Designer for Big Brane Studio’s Sushi Ben VR.
